Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a former physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
