Bullish Celtic's manager does not fear being fired but supporters display anger following defeat.
The under-pressure manager declared he did not fear dismissal, claiming, “We are extremely close to a turnaround,” in the wake of sliding worryingly close to the chopping block with a convincing setback against the Ibrox side.
A Second-Half Collapse Results in Derby Defeat
The Hoops were in front their oldest rivals at half-time but a second-half capitulation let the Gers to draw level on points with the defending Scottish Premiership champions. The former MLS manager, who was brought in from Columbus Crew, has now presided over six setbacks in his last eight fixtures.
“There is unity at the club,” stated Nancy.
Pressed on whether he was concerned, Nancy said: “I don’t think about it. I concentrate on finding ways to aid my players to improve on small moments.
Fan Fury On Display
Celtic’s support made their feelings clear – towards the board and manager – in their hundreds at full time. The hierarchy are reportedly likely to return to Martin O’Neill, who had a fruitful temporary stint last year, should a change be made.
“The outcomes [that leads to pressure]. So this is the reality for the moment. However by saying this is the reality, it doesn’t mean that I am pessimistic. Not at all. My point is we are really close, really, really close to reverse our form.”
Nancy’s Persistent Belief
The coach remains focused on the fact the side play well for one half at a time. For instance, but for poor finishing they could have been better than 1-0 up. “There were positives except the fact that we missed more goals,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but I have also to be balanced.
“The performance we had at times was exceptionally high. That is a fact. And I would not speak so positively if it was untrue. Therefore, when it comes to wins, I noted this is the same story. For that reason I feel a change is coming to a shift in fortunes. Right now: details, details, details.”
“There were plenty of positives that we did, once more. However it’s about sustaining it. My outlook would change the same. That’s why I am a big believer we’re going to be able to fix this.”
The Rangers Boss Outlook
The victorious boss played down talk of a serious challenge despite what felt like a statement victory. “We take it game by game, then we can develop something here,” he said. “The faith in the group is outstanding.”
